National Health Insurance is managed based on cities, wards, towns and villages. This is a medical insurance plan for providing mutual help to those who do not join their company's health insurance schemes. If a non-Japanese resident who has completed alien registration and is qualified to stay in Japan for more than one year has not joined his or her company's health insurance, he or she shall join the National Health Insurance scheme of the city, village, or town where he or she registered as an alien.
Come to the counter of the National Health Insurance and Pension Section in the City Office in person, bringing your Certificates of Alien Registration. If you previously joined your company's health insurance scheme but subsequently dropped out, you need the "certificate of social insurance cancellation" or the "leaving certificate" issued by the company or the like.

Only those who have addresses in Atsugi can be part of Atsugi's National Health
Insurance scheme. When you move to a place outside Atsugi or leave Japan to return
to your native country, please come to the counter of the National Health Insurance
and Pension Section in the City Office, and bring your "health insurance
certificate" with you. The certificate will be returned to the City and the
payments adjusted.

Come to the Citizens Section (Alien Registration counter) and the National Health
Insurance and Pension Section in the city office as soon as possible after you
move, bringing your Certificate of Alien Registration and National Health Insurance
Certificate with you.

Bring your Certificate of Alien Registration and other supporting documentation.
